I got this book through Netgalley. Thank you very much Netgalley! ;)
First of all, I want to clear something up. It didn't take me 3 months to read this book. I actually read it in 7 days. It's just that I hadn't had much time to read, so, that's why my starting and ending dates are so far off. Considering that I read it in a week, I can say it's a fast paced book.
I didn't read any reviews before reading the book. I was drawn to it by the title and the cover! (those 9 months were worth it Tom Barry! he he he) After reading it, what I get from the cover is that all the characters are sirens drowning in their own ocean of defects.
This one is not a love story. This is a story of infidelity, lies, deception, betrayal, lust and desire. It also teaches you how not to fall in the trap of timeshare businesses in a foreign country.
Isobel had it all, yet she wasn't content with it. She played the role of the desperate housewife that fell in the player's trap. Well player doesn't even cover it. Jay is the jerk, man-whore, douchebag, scum (you get the idea) that makes Isobel want to change her lonely sexless life behind.
Tuscany plays an important role in this book. The detailed description of the place makes you want to travel to be there under the warm Italian sun.
I can't say that I loved this book but I can't say that I hate it either. It was a good read. Although I would've wanted a little more action in the end, especially from Peter. Since this is a trilogy, maybe that's the whole point of leaving you wanting more in the end.
The ending was unexpected for me but left me with the feeling that everyone got what they deserved.
Moral of the Story: Beware when the sirens call.
